WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS

WORLD UNITED MARTIAL ARTS ASSOCIATION

Yet again students of the Welsh Academy of Martial Arts achieve the highest goal in the World United Tournament that was held in Gloucester last weekend. Students who are coached to the highest level in martial arts are based at  THE HUB, YMCA Gladstone Road Barry.

Only 5 students took part this time but came home with three 1st Places one 2nd Place  and three 3rd places.

First to fight was 12 year old Lewis Cummings new to the fighting scene but a champion in the making with outstanding technical ability, took 1st Place in the Semi-contact section.

Second to fight was his sister 10 year old Jamie-Lee Cummings again a newcomer with outstanding technical ability, and again someone to look forward to seeing in the future.  Jamie took 1st Place in the Semi-contact section.

3rd to fight was 9 year old Jamie Rasis.  Jamie had bad luck on the day and unfortunately, didn`t perform to his best ability.  Again an outstanding fighter.  Jamie took 3rd Place in the Semi-Contact Section and 3rd Place in the Light Contact Section.,

4th to fight was 8 year old Thomas Harris who was in the same section as Jamie Rasis who stormed through the category taking 1st Place. 3rd Place in the Light Contact Section.

5th to fight was 8 year old Kyron Caddick who commenced his fight with confidence after having been poorly for some time.  Kyron unfortunately, received a nasty kick to the forehead and had to concede and take 2nd Place.

All these 5 students will be part of the Team Wales Squad representing Wales in the WKA World Championships in Spain. A total of 15 students from WAMA will be travelling to Spain alongside other clubs whose students have qualified to represent their country in November.

Registration is now taking place for the LITTLE NINJA classes where the students start to train at the very young age of 4 years. Anyone wishing to register their child please come along to THE HUB-YMCA on Monday, Wednesday or Friday at 5pm. Friday evenings will be for the new class of Little Ninjas
